Nearly everyone has issues with their skin and I’m no different. Oily skin, eczema, redness, scarring or acne, I’ve had my fair share!
A few years ago I had the misfortune of having cystic acne, which completely changed the way I viewed myself and my skin. Despite eating healthy, exercising regularly and maintaining a balanced lifestyle, I couldn’t understand why this had happened to me. Thankfully through the use of Accutane and several Cortezone injections, my skin finally cleared up.

Remember how everyone always tells you not to pick your skin? Well, I learned this lesson the hard way. I was left with terrible scars all over my cheeks, which made concealing them even more difficult than getting rid of the acne! Oil-free foundations are a preference of mine, especially for acne prone and oily skinned folks, yet finding one light enough with optimal coverage was a hassle.
Then I found Smashbox Camera Ready BB Water Broad Spectrum. After applying a generous amount of moisturizer, I apply the BB Water directly to my skin without the use of a primer! This amazing product is water-like in consistency, yet is entirely buildable without looking like you’re wearing a thick layer of foundation. I always had an issue finding a liquid foundation that wouldn’t just slide over top my acne scars, which always happened to me despite using primers and always having to go back with a concealer brush to apply additional foundation on them.
Smashbox’s Camera Ready BB Water immediately melts upon skin contact and has a demi-matte finish, so your skin doesn’t look flat throughout the day! I apply a few drops of the BB Water to the back of my hand and tested the recommended fingertip technique (haha) as well as with my Sephora PRO Flawless Airbrush and even my Quo Blending Sponge. Overall I found that stippling it on with the Sephora Airbrush worked best and used a minimal amount of the product while providing the most skinlike finish. To finish off the look I applied my favourite Makeup Forever HD Microfinish Powder and carried on with my usual makeup routine!
