philosophy The Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel

A fabulous and effective skincare regime is a commitment. Finding the products that are not only efficient but affordable is another story.

“Beautiful makeup starts with beautiful skin.”
– Shu Uemura

As I mentioned before, I suffered from a severe cystic acne breakout a few years back and wound up with horrible acne scars as a result. Consulting with my dermatologist of over a decade, he suggested microdermabrasions and/or a chemical peel, so I made an appointment for a ‘derm right away. Immediately I felt my skin slightly softer, brighter and less bumpy, with little recovery time, I threw a hat on and was cautioned to stay out of direct sun. The only con was the $50 price tag. Now don’t get me wrong, it is entirely worth it and obviously up to you with how you spend your money, but for someone like me who would consistently need these treatments in order to see consistent results it had to be done regularly. After a little research, I learned that a chemical peel, though effective, was far too abrasive for my already sensitive skin and had far too long of a recovery time, so again I had to keep searching!

My mother works in the beauty industry and knew of my skin troubles, consistently asking her coworkers of effective at-home procedures for acne scarring. A philosophy rep suggested the Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel and that was it. I began using Microdelivery twice a week as directed and haven’t looked back. At first, I was skeptical as someone who’s had issues with their skin for, what seems, their entire life, but I can truthfully say how life changing this continues to be for me.

I have been consistently using philosophy’s Microdelivery Resurfacing Peel for over a year and can only boast about what a remarkable product this is. My only wish is that I took a picture of my skin a year ago to truly compare the difference it’s made to my skin! Oh well, I’ll just show you now how it works for not only my skin but my confidence to take photos of myself without makeup on.

Make sure your skin is clean and dry, apply about half a teaspoon of the Vitamin C Peptide Crystal scrub as you would your regular exfoliator. Remember to avoid your delicate eye area! Next up apply the Lactic Acid Activating gel on top of the crystals and gently massage. It will foam up a little bit and you may experience a warm sensation – this is totally normal! You’ll want to leave this mask on for about three minutes, then remove with a moist towel and wash off the rest. Afterwards, I just apply my regular moisturizer, today I used my Cetaphil Daily Moisturizer with SPF 15 and my favourite Biotherm Aquasource Total Eye Revitalizer and I’m ready to start my day!

Now remember, whenever you’re doing any sort of exfoliating or peels, you MUST wear an SPF as your skin will become highly sensitive to the sun and try to limit this to once or twice a week. You’ll really notice the results the more you follow through with this! Ah, the tribulations of having clear skin. In addition, I drink about two litres (OR MORE) of water a day, along with moisturizing morning and night. In no way do I claim to be a skin care professional, I just want to share my trial and error journey in finding the perfect products that have helped my skin!

Have any questions on any of the products I’ve used today? Tried anything interesting? Do you have an exfoliating routine that works well for fine lines and acne scars? Let me know! Leave me a comment below and we’ll chat 🙂  Thanks for reading free birds, can’t wait to check out your blogs too!

Hasta la vista,
Alejandra Fretes
